Many people think that you need a super huge budget or some great agency behind you in order to push out viral social media content.
This is not true. At all. It may happen that some big campaigns were funded by big budgets, but that is not entirely the secret of their success.
If you ask yourself, as a social media manager or consultant, how to create viral social media content, the most basic piece of advise I would give to you is this:If you want to create viral social media content always be aware of your surrounding.Click To Tweet
Be ready at all times for viral content generating opportunities to come your way
In the example above, you see a guy proposing to his girl friend. Nothing special, you’d say. Happens almost every day.
Only this time, I was walking over the bridge and caught the exact moment when he dropped on his knee. My immediate reaction? Get my phone up, open Facebook, push live button and … let it roll.
I was at the right time and in the right place. I was ready, with whatever tools I had on me, to broadcast this beautiful moment to the world.
The fact that the video had more than 1,000 views in a couple of days shows that it was a good call. No, it did not become millions views viral, but it is a good example to demonstrate the title at hand.
No social media stalking
Now, am I saying that we should all start stalking people in parks and invading their privacy? No! However, I do say that as social media content generators, we should be much more aware of our surroundings and be ready to go if the opportunity presents itself.
The best camera is the one you have on you. Do not waste time creating complicated props and setup tools that will eventually hinder your free movement.
Be ready and exercise often
Be aware. Stay alert and ready to create viral social media content at all times. You’ll have lots of occasions where you will do it right and nobody will come to watch.
But all that exercise will surely show its value when that big opportunity arrives and your content will pick up. Again: viral social media content is mostly generated by chance, not scripted.
